Pope Paul VI stated, "If you want peace, work for justice."  DMIEC participants are committed to this vision in various ways.

A monthly contribution is given to an organization that provides service or justice opportunities.

Some of the organizations that have received financial support are:

Center for Social Ministry
Art for El Salvador
Children's Cancer Center
Our Sister Parish (Berlin, El Salvador)
Family Promise of Greater Des Moines
1000 Friends of Iowa

A collection of items for the Des Moines Catholic Worker House is also gathered weekly. Our Christmas collection is a further donation to its work.

DMIEC is also a member congregation of Companeros, the coordinating body for the Des Moines Presbytery's El Salvador mission. We are also co-sponsors of the events of the Des Moines Ecumenical Committee for Peace, including the Palm Sunday Procession for Peace and Prayer Service, the Hiroshima/Nagasaki Commemoration, and the Feast of the Holy Innocents Prayer Service.

Many opportunities for education, action, or volunteer work that help bring the Kin-dom of God on Earth are also available.
