Collection recipient for FEBRUARY 2:  FAITH & GRACE GARDEN

Established in 2001, Faith & Grace Garden is a one-acre food pantry garden, meaning all the fruits and vegetables grown in the garden are donated to feed hungry local people. The garden is located in the ‘backyards’ of both St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church and Covenant Presbyterian Church in West Des Moines and can be seen along Ashworth Road. In 2019, Faith & Grace Garden donated over 12,700 pounds of fresh organic fruits and vegetables to feed hungry people throughout Polk County.

Last year, a large greenhouse was built near the garden to grow food year round. DMIEC funds will be used to help run a waterline to the new greenhouse, purchase garden supplies, and start plants as seedlings.

Donations may be made in cash or via checks made payable either to “St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church” with “Faith & Grace Garden” in the memo line, or to “DMIEC.”
