SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER — Year C

*Alternate* First Reading: “Mysteries, Yes” by Mary Oliver

Truly, we live with mysteries too marvelous
to be understood.

How grass can be nourishing in the
mouths of lambs.

How rivers and stones are forever
in allegiance with gravity
while we ourselves dream of rising.

How two hands touch and the bonds will
never be broken.

How people come, from delight or the
scars of damage,
to the comfort of a poem.

Let me keep my distance, always, from those
who think they have the answers.

Let me keep company always with those who say
“Look!” and laugh in astonishment,
and bow their heads.

The words of Mary Oliver.

SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER — Year C

*Alternate* Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 145

R: Blessed be the Living God and blessed be her name forever and ever.

Full of grace and a mother’s love is the Mother of All,
slow to anger and abounding in faithful love.

R: Blessed be the Living God and blessed be her name forever and ever.

The Womb of Life is good to all,
And her mother-love is upon all she has made.

R: Blessed be the Living God and blessed be her name forever and ever.

They shall praise you, Wellspring of Life, all your works,
And your faithful shall bless you.

R: Blessed be the Living God and blessed be her name forever and ever.

The Ever-Present God is near to all who call on her,
to all who call on her in truth.

R: Blessed be the Living God and blessed be her name forever and ever.
