Since 1987, Anawim Housing has been building homes, hope, and community. From its start—as a vision of Sister Stella Neill and a group of community activists—Anawim Housing has been a leading provider of safe, affordable housing in Des Moines. Today, Anawim Housing serves over 380 individuals who have experienced homelessness in their Permanent Supportive Housing programs and is home to over 1,200 individuals who live in Anawim owned properties. Founded by two passionate board members, the Women Empowering Families group has inspired hundreds of women across central Iowa to support and empower the people who call Anawim Housing home. Every year, this group raises money and collects household items so that each person that comes to Anawim can focus on reaching their full potential. The warm welcome of Women Empowering Families gives the households Anawim serves the resources and opportunity they need to make their house a home. For more information, click here.
