FOURTH SUNDAY OF ADVENT — Year C

*Alternate* Gospel: Luke 1: 39-44 (From The Message by Eugene H. Peterson)

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke.

Mary wasted no time and hurried to the hill country of Judah, where she entered Zechariah’s house and greeted Elizabeth. As soon as Elizabeth heard Mary’s voice, the child leaped in her womb and Elizabeth was filled with the Spirit. In an exuberant voice she exclaimed “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! Why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? The moment your greeting reached my ears, the child in my womb leaped for joy.”

The Good News as spoken through Luke.
