Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time Year B Gospel

TWELFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME — Year B

Gospel: Mark 4:35-41

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Mark.

With the coming of evening that same day, Jesus said to the disciples, “Let us cross over to the other shore.” Leaving the crowd behind, they took Jesus in the boat in which he was sitting. There were other boats with them. Then a fierce gale arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat so much that it was almost swamped. But Jesus was in the stern through it all, sound asleep on a cushion. They woke him and said, “Teacher, does it not matter to you that we are going to drown?” Jesus woke up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush! Be calm!” And the wind dropped and all was perfectly calm. Jesus then said to the disciples, “Why were you so frightened? Don’t you have any faith?” They were filled with awe and said to one another, “Who is this, whom even the wind and sea obey?”
